Polycarbonate Roofing Fasteners Series
POLY-FAST™ roofing fasteners feature a Thermal Expansion Hole Cutter that creates a much-required thermal expansion hole on plastic profiled roofing panels. The panels are then securely fastened onto the purlin support underneath in one–go.
A nominal 11mm diameter hole is created by the Thermal Expansion Hole Cutter during the process. When mated with the Thermal Expansion Hole Cutter, with the Depth Stop Knurls acts as a stopper, the height at where it stops upon coming in contact with the purlins; enough so that it prevents screw over-run or over-drive, provide a perfect seal to the enlarged hole, but not deform the corrugations. A large Domed Weatherseal EPDM washer with two concentric sealing rims on the washer underside completes the package.

Compared to fixing metal roofing sheets, the biggest difference when fixing polycarbonate sheets is the high coefficient of thermal expansion rate. Common among most thermoplastics, allowances and extra spacing should be reserved on frames or purlins, and dedicated screws such as POLY-FAST™ and PolyXpand™ fasteners which create an expansion hole whilst drilling should also be used.

Installation Procedure:
- Press the drill point onto the corrugation crest.
- Use a lower RPM and tap in quick succession until the polycarbonate sheet is penetrated, and the drill point comes in contact with the wooden substrate.
- Continue to drill through the wooden substrate as you would with a standard Type 17 screw or TEK srew.
- The circular saw will penetrate the polycarbonate sheet and form a perfect expansion hole.
- Stop drilling when the domed EPDM conforms to the corrugation, which forms a weathertight seal.
